Christie’s sold a blue diamond ring for $43.7 million – Kommersant

Auction house Christie’s announced that during the “Majestic Jewels” auction on November 7, it helped out 39.5 million ($43.7 million) for a Bleu Royal blue diamond ring.
Ring Made of platinum and rose gold, it features two 3-carat diamonds and a 17.63-carat pear-shaped blue diamond. This is the largest blue diamond ever offered at auction.
The jewelry was valued at $50 million by the auction house, but was sold for less than $44 million. According to Rahul Kadakia, head of Christie’s international jewelry department, this is still “a huge amount of money, given what is happening in the world today.”
Note that the entire jewelry auction in Geneva on Tuesday raised $77 million.
