China refused to recognize Russian insurance documents for ships

The Chinese authorities have begun to refuse to recognize shipowners’ insurance documents issued in Russia, Deputy Minister of Transport Alexander Poshivai said at the Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum.
“Russian shipowners are facing refusals from the Chinese authorities and companies regarding the recognition of insurance documents for ships and cargoes issued by the above-mentioned insurance companies,” Poshivay said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
He noted that Russia would like to invite the Chinese side to consider the possibility of recognizing the certificates of companies involved in the insurance of marine transportation of energy carriers, and documents guaranteeing financial coverage of risks.
Earlier, speaking at the forum, Sew notedthat sea transportation of hydrocarbons from Russia to China for the first nine months of this year increased by 25% to 87.5 million tons. At the same time, he noted that last year more than 20 ships were built at the shipyards of the PRC for Russia, and now two more ships are being built.
