Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, who in the government is also responsible for state policy in the field of tourism. At the meeting, Mr. Chernyshenko drew the president’s attention to the change in the structure of domestic tourism.
According to the results of the summer tourist season, about 41 million tourist trips were made in the country, by the end of the year this figure should reach at least 58 million, Mr. Chernyshenko cited the figures. “It is growing powerfully, in fact,” the president said.
“Pay attention to what: before its structure was – business trips doubled over vacation trips, now it’s the other way around, that is, vacation has doubled, and business has declined for obvious reasons,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko (quoted from site Kremlin).
In May 2021, the national project “Tourism and hospitality industry” was launched. He suggests that by 2030 the number of trips across the country should reach up to 140 million a year. By the same year, as Mr. Chernyshenko noted at a meeting with the president, it is planned to increase the number of rooms at least 1.5 times – up to 909 thousand rooms, and jobs – up to 4.9 million people (twice, from 2, 5 million).
