‘Chariots of Fire’ director Hugh Hudson dies

British director Hugh Hudson has died at the age of 87. He directed the film Chariots of Fire, which won four Oscars (best film, screenplay, costumes and soundtrack), a Golden Globe, three BAFTA awards and two prizes at the Cannes Film Festival.
Mr Hudson died at Charing Cross Hospital in London after a short illness. AP statement from the director’s family. Other details are not given.
The film Chariots of Fire (1981) tells the story of the rivalry between two British athletes at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. The film is best known for its soundtrack, which is often used for comical effect in contemporary productions. In addition, it was used during the presentation of the first Macintosh computer by Steve Jobs in 1984, as well as during the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games in 2012.
Mr. Hudson has also directed the films Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1983), Lumiere & Company (1995), My Merry Life (1999) and others.
