Cabaret for cowboys and fight for teenagers

RAMT announced the premiere of the new season

The Russian Youth Theater, which always gathers the troupe at home and without any special statements, surprised this time. And a new appointment, and a well-thought-out package of premieres for the new season. Marina Brusnikina takes over the post of chief director, which has been empty all year due to the relocation of Yegor Peregudov to the Mayakovsky Theater, and the first premiere will be from her – in ten days.

This is a documentary performance “Here the house stood”, in which the history of our country arises from the living stories of the older generation of actors about the house, life and favorite things that once surrounded them and accompanied them through life. Artist Irina Korina will turn a small stage into a multi-room apartment, where the theater’s old-timers – Larisa Grebenshchikova, Alexei Blokhin, Tatiana Shatilova, Yuri Grigoriev, Vladimir Vasilenko, Tatiana Kuryanova, Andrey Bazhin, Andrey Sorokin, Olga Grishova – are waiting for the audience as guests. The story about material life was invented by a wonderful young actor Viktor Panchenko, and dramaturgically developed by Andrey Stadnikov. And in the second half of the season, the new chief director will immediately start staging Ivan Shmelev’s novel “The Summer of the Lord.”

The director Ekaterina Polovtseva, who, together with the artist Emil Kapelyush, will make the Misanthrope by J.-B. Moliere in a complex form – “a game within a game.” A strong team is preparing to play Molière – Maxim Kerin, Vladimir Zomerfeld, Denis Balandin, Maria Ryshchenkova, Anna Kovaleva, Antonina Pisareva and others.

“Kashtanka” also claims for the Little Stage, intending to add to the list of Moscow productions based on Chekhov’s story, surprising in its tender truth about a harsh life. RAMT’s “Kashtanka” will be directed by Vladimir Bogatyrev, and artists Evgenia Beloborodova, Sergei Pechenkin, Alexei Mishakov, Vitaly Timashkov, Ivan Zabelin will help him.

In mid-September, the RAMT courtyard will turn into the Wild West. But not the one that now surprises with its predilection for gender excesses, but the one described by O’Henry in his stories. With director Andrei Ryklin, the play “Heart of the West” will take the form of a cowboy cabaret.

Another look into the past – “Leningrad Tales” – is being prepared by playwright Maria Malukhina and director Philip Gurevich, based on a series of books by Yulia Yakovleva. Terrible events of the 30-40s of the last century in the mystical journey of one Leningrad family through the historical memory of our country.

Animals and their people – such a balance of power is planned in the play “Thomasina”, in which playwright Olya Potapova and director Ali Lovyannikova will tell the story-tale of the “American Andersen” by Paul Gallico. Cast: Maria Ryshchenkova, Alexey Myasnikov, Alexandra Rozovskaya, Tatyana Veselkina, Andrey Galchenko, Yuri Grigoriev, Vera Zotova.

And RAMT would not be RAMT if it had forgotten about the problems of puberty. The Wednesday Fights performance based on the novel by Gary Schmidt about how a teenager becomes a man will be directed by one of the most interesting directors of the new generation, Ivan Pachin. But he will start working only after the copyright issues are resolved.

And finally, a completely unexpected proposal from the artistic director of Molodyozhny Alexei Borodin – “The Lanin Estate” based on the play by Boris Zaitsev. The same play with which the Vakhtangov studio began more than a hundred years ago. Then the production performed by amateur students failed miserably. But this, as we see, did not in the least prevent the brainchild of Yevgeny Bagrationovich from becoming a theater from the studio and starting to live its second century. In this case, RAMT can safely take the “Lenin Manor” on the road as a talisman that it keeps.
