Brazil imports record volumes of oil products from Russia – Kommersant

In August, Brazil plans to increase imports of oil products from Russia by 25% compared to July, up to 235,000 barrels per day. This is a record figure for the import of Russian fuel for Brazil. In August, the Russian Federation will take the first place in terms of imports of petroleum products to Brazil, overtaking the United States, reports Bloomberg with reference to data from the analytical company Kpler.

It is noted that the growth in the supply of petroleum products from Russia to Brazil began in February this year. This month, the embargo on Russian oil products imposed by the EU and the G7 countries came into force, and a price ceiling was set: for naphtha, diesel, gasoline and kerosene at $100 per barrel, and for fuel oil at $45.

According to Kpler, Brazil has become the second largest importer of diesel fuel from Russia, behind only Turkey. According to the company’s estimate, Brazil buys Russian diesel fuel at a discount of $10-15 per barrel.

In addition, it is reported that since June, Brazil began to import gasoline from Russia, although in much smaller volumes, and an increase in the supply of Russian naphtha is also possible. Kpler expects that the trend of increasing supplies from Russia will continue.

After the introduction of sanctions against Russian oil products and oil, China and India became the main importers of fuel from the Russian Federation. According to the International Energy Agency, in July the export of oil and oil products from Russia preserved at 7.3 million barrels per day. At the same time, Russia’s income from fuel exports over the past month increased by $2.5 billion and reached $15.3 billion.

Meanwhile, prices for oil products, including gasoline, are rising on the domestic market of the Russian Federation. So, yesterday, on August 16, wholesale prices for summer diesel fuel, following the results of trading at the St. Petersburg International Exchange, crossed another record milestone. They grew by 1.49% in the index of the European part of Russia and almost reached the level of 67 thousand rubles. per ton. Gasoline also became more expensive: AI-92 fuel increased in price by 1.08%, to 62.4 thousand rubles. per ton, brand AI-95 – by 0.77%, up to 69.3 thousand rubles. per ton.
