In Moscow, the Russian Academic Youth Theater and the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg removed the name of Boris Akunin from posters of performances based on his plays and books. The writer spoke about this in his telegram channel.
“The titles of the plays remain, but instead of the author, there is emptiness,” Akunin wrote.
The artistic director of RAMT Alexei Borodin, according to the writer, told him that this was a requirement of the Ministry of Culture. The writer in response advised to do “what is best for you.”
In the poster of the new play “1881” on the website of the Alexandrinsky Theater, Akunin is also not mentioned among the authors of the production (he notes in the post that he wrote the play specifically for this theater).
The writer added that due to sanctions (Akunin lives in the UK) he does not receive royalties.
“I do not demand that my nameless performances be removed from the repertoire,” he said. – Until they are finally banned, let them go. Even for free.”
