Bob Iger is back as CEO of Disney

Bob Iger, who held from 2005 to 2020 position as chief executive officer of Disney, returns to his post. About it says in a company message. The decision takes effect immediately, the press service said.
Eiger will return to work for two years. It is noted that he will be responsible for the development strategy of the corporation. Also during this time, Eiger must find a successor who will lead the company after the end of his term. It is specified that Iger replaced Bob Chapek, who stepped down from his post.
Chapek has been with Disney since 1993. He took CEO position in February 2020. Prior to that, he ran the Disney theme park business. In June 2022, the corporation extended the contract with Chapek for another three years, while the board of directors unanimously supported this decision.
In addition, Iger served as Executive Chairman of the Disney Board of Directors until the end of 2021. He was succeeded in this post by Susan Arnold. Despite the change in chief executive officer, Arnold will remain in his position, the company said. Under Iger, the company became Hollywood’s biggest studio and acquired Pixar (2006), Marvel (2009), Lucasfilm (2012), and 21st Century Fox (2018).
At the same time, the company faced difficulties in 2022. Disney shares have fallen nearly 40% since the start of the year, and the company posted weaker-than-expected net income and revenue in its fiscal fourth quarter, which ended October 1. Against this backdrop, Disney decided to cut costs, including through job cuts, informed CNBC.
