Events in this format will be held for the first time in the history of Moscow.

In honor of celebrating its birthday, Helikon Opera, together with the capital’s registry offices, will organize five wedding ceremonies. This format will be held for the first time in the history of Moscow. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

To be born or die on stage is an artist’s dream. But who would have imagined that now, thanks to the birthday of Helikon Opera, from April 10 to 14, a real family could be born on the stage of one of the capital’s most popular theaters: the capital’s registry offices will hold on-site marriage registrations for ten lucky ones, 200 will be direct participants artists, and witnessed by 500 spectators.

As the artistic director of Helikon Dmitry Bertman said, the theater is a real family, its employees not only perform together, but also fall in love, get married, become parents, and create creative dynasties. “We always celebrate our birthday with a special feeling – unity and sincere happiness. We will be glad if our love becomes a blessing to young families.”

Just imagine: the Stravinsky Hall, the finale of the Gala performance. The hero of Mozart’s opera buffe, Leporello, tells Don Giovanni that they need to put on tailcoats, because everyone is invited to the wedding.

Don Juan: Where will she be?

Leporello: Here… We… The wedding is taking place right now…

Don Juan: Operatic?

Leporello: Real!

Don Juan: Since when did our theater become a registry office?

Leporello: From today. This is what the bride and groom wished. State authorities were warned and did not object. Let’s hurry, sir!

After which the hall is filled with the sounds of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March,” and the newlyweds, together with the registry office employee, rise on plungers directly from under the stage. And everyone who will be in the hall at that moment will shout to the newlyweds: “Bitter!!!”
