The price of bitcoin during the trading session on February 28 rose by 5.9% compared to the previous one – to $60,635, according to data from the trading platform Coindesk at 16:27 Moscow time. The last time the price of this cryptocurrency rose above $60 thousand was in November 2021.
According to portal calculations CoinMarketCapwhich calculates the average price across 20 exchanges, the price of Bitcoin grew by 5.3% per day, to an average of $59,303. Ethereum rose by 2.29%, to $3.318, reaching a two-year peak.
Bitcoin rises in price for the fifth day in a row. During this time, its price increased by 17%. With further gains, Bitcoin could post its fastest monthly rise since December 2020, rising 39.7% in February. Since the beginning of the year, the cryptocurrency has gained 40%.
The growth of cryptocurrency was led by regulatory relaxations adopted in January – the US Securities and Exchange Commission approved the country’s first exchange-traded funds (ETF) for Bitcoin. Thus, the largest investors were able to legally buy cryptocurrency.
