About 50% of pharmacy Botox goes to the gray market. In some regions of Russia, the figure reaches 90%, the National Association of Aesthetic Medicine Clinics told Kommersant FM. After the departure of the most popular drug Botox from the Russian market, the niche was occupied by both domestic and foreign analogues. Over the past year, pharmacies sold more than 960 thousand of these drugs. Details from Alexander Mezentsev.

In 2023, Russian pharmacies sold three times more botulinum toxin-based drugs than two years ago, almost 3.5 billion rubles. Such indicators are associated with the development of the gray market for services, according to representatives of the aesthetic medicine industry. After all, in pharmacies, Botox preparations are purchased for personal purposes, most often for cosmetology services at home and in private offices.

Over the past two years, the flow of such clients has increased, Alesya, a master of aesthetic medicine, confirmed the trend: “In salons, as a rule, prices are inflated, their rent is expensive. And there cosmetologists are obliged to perform procedures for a certain price, that is, they cannot charge it below it.

A private specialist, in turn, can announce some promotions if he knows that he has free “windows” for recording. In addition, such a specialist has the opportunity to order a specific drug for the client, the price of which will also affect the final cost of the service.”

On average, the cost of a Botox procedure from a private specialist in Moscow starts from 3 thousand rubles. for smoothing wrinkles on the forehead and from 7 thousand rubles. – for lip correction. The cost of one injection is about 150 rubles.

But such specialists are dangerous for the industry, emphasized Alexander Terentyev, director of the National Association of Aesthetic Medicine Clinics: “This is a huge problem that needs to be urgently addressed. After all, we are talking about the safety of our patients, this time.

Secondly, of course, these are people who provide medical services in unclear conditions, do not pay taxes, and discredit the profession and the industry as a whole. In my opinion, these are criminals.”

At the same time, in the capital’s aesthetic medicine clinics, the demand for Botox procedures remained at the same level. True, the cost of services in professional salons differs – one injection will cost an average of 300 rubles, which is approximately two times higher than that of private specialists.

After the departure of the popular drug Botox, the industry did not immediately recover, explained Ksenia Afonina, CEO of the aesthetic medicine clinic New Way clinic: “In general, botulinum toxin injections are one of the most popular procedures. Women want to get quick and good results. But at the same time, over two years there has been no sharp increase in demand for these services.

Previously, Russian women were not always ready to use domestic analogues of Botox. But the market is changing, and in principle they already agree to local products, which have proven to be of quite high quality.”

Among other things, the National Association of Aesthetic Medicine Clinics believes that in Russia the fine for the provision of cosmetology services by specialists without medical education is not serious enough. Now the punishment is 2.5 thousand rubles. According to experts, it needs to be increased to 250 thousand rubles.
