Banks of Belarus introduce commissions for storing dollars and euros – Kommersant

Three large Belarusian banks – BNB-bank, Priorbank and Technobank – have decided to introduce commissions for some of their clients for storing the currencies of unfriendly countries. Commissions, in particular, will affect deposits in US dollars and euros.

Technobank informedthat since May 22, the financial organization has changed the cost of servicing foreign currency accounts of individual entrepreneurs and legal entities. According to the new rules, if the total average daily balance on all foreign currency accounts – in dollars and euros – exceeds 1 million dollars or euros, then you will have to pay 0.1% of the amount that exceeds this million for account maintenance every month.

Priorbank And BNB bank also decided to introduce commissions for servicing accounts in dollars and euros. They will affect customers with 50 thousand dollars or euros in their accounts and will be introduced in June. Priorbank said that from June 1, it introduces a monthly fee for private clients in the amount of 750 Belarusian rubles. BNB-Bank introduces a commission from June 5. It will be 0.1% of the amount on the client’s account.

Edition Sputnik Belarus clarifies that other Belarusian banks may announce the introduction of such measures in the near future. The National Bank of Belarus declined to comment on these changes at the request of Sputnik. To a direct question about whether they recommended banks to make a decision on the introduction of commissions for servicing foreign currency accounts, the National Bank did not answer either.
