Domestic automaker “AvtoVAZ» expects to launch the crossover SUV on the Vesta platform at the end of 2025, told the head of the company Maxim Sokolov in an interview with Forbes.

“The plans include the development of a highly localized front-wheel drive SUV category crossover on the Vesta platform. This is no longer in class B, but closer to C – we call it B +. We expect to start production of this car at the end of 2025,” he said.

Sokolov explained that the part of the audience that would have previously bought a Renault Duster would be interested in the model. The rest will give preference to Niva Travel.

The concern’s agreement with Renault allows the production of Duster, but even without taking into account economic feasibility, this is impossible due to sanctions pressure on Russia, Sokolov emphasized.

Previously “AvtoVAZ» informed about the growth of sales in November by 13.5% compared to the previous month. In total, 21,726 passenger cars were sold in November, which is a record figure since the beginning of the year. Since the beginning of the year, AvtoVAZ has been able to sell more than 164,600 vehicles. Granta and Niva Legend models were in the greatest demand.

In May, production at the AvtoVAZ plants was suspended due to a shortage of components. The company then switched to a four-day work week. At the beginning of June “AvtoVAZ” resumed the assembly of passenger cars and launched the Lada Granta Classic 2022 model with imported parts. At the end of November Sokolov declared about plans to resume production of Lada Largus at the plant in Tolyatti in 2023.
