The Avtodor state corporation and the government are working on a project of a highway bypassing the Caspian Sea, Vyacheslav Petushenko, head of the state company, said. According to him, eastern and western options are being considered.

“We are just considering in a large community either a western or an eastern bypass. We are discussing at the site of the government of the Russian Federation. Here you need to understand how freight and rail transport is involved. We have studies of both the western and eastern bypass of the Caspian,” said Mr. Petushenko “RIA News”.

Vyacheslav Petushenko added that the final decision on the construction of the route has not yet been made. He noted that work on the feasibility study of the project has not yet begun.

In January, after the visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin to Turkmenistan, it became known that Russia and Turkmenistan were discussing the construction of a highway on the coast of the Caspian Sea.
