Avtodom closed a deal to buy Russian assets of Mercedes-Benz

Dealer holding “Avtodom” closed a deal to acquire the Russian assets of the German automaker Mercedes-Benz. About it writes agency “RIA Novosti” with reference to the message of the company.

We are talking about the transfer of Mercedes-Benz Rus JSC (official distributor in the Russian Federation), a plant in the Moscow region, a leasing subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Rus, as well as a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Bank Rus and a company that engaged in leasing, factoring and car insurance, Mercedes-Benz Capital Rus.

It is noted that the dealer received the right to carry out maintenance of cars of this brand – both warranty and post-warranty.

The company also promised to introduce a technology partner in the near future and announce plans to resume production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in the Moscow region. It is important for the company to preserve jobs, said Andrey Olkhovsky, General Director of Avtodom.

April 19 “Interfax” with reference to the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities informedthat Avtodom bought the Russian assets of Mercedes-Benz, including a plant in the Moscow region. According to the agency, the deal was closed on April 18. Avtodom clarified that the deal had not yet been closed at that time.

German newspaper Handelsblatt referring to the group claimsthat Mercedes-Benz received an option to repurchase its assets in the Russian Federation in the event of sanctions being lifted.

October 25, 2022 Vedomosti, citing sources reportedthat Mercedes will sell its plant in the Moscow region to the Avtodom dealer. One of the interlocutors of the publication admitted that the deal may include an option under which Mercedes-Benz AG will be able to return to ownership of the plant within a certain time.

In December, Olkhovsky saidthat the company plans to close the deal within a month. According to him, it was planned to launch the production of cars at the plant, since it is narrowly focused on the specifics of production. The general director of Avtodom then estimated the timing of the resumption of production at 8-9 months after agreeing on a new brand.
