ATOR: tourism in Russia has risen in price by 15% this summer

Domestic tourism in Russia has risen in price by an average of 10-15% over the summer season, said Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

“The market average is 10-15%, in the premium segment the dynamics are higher – about 20%, due to its high demand,” – leads her words to Interfax.

Lomidze emphasized that this is happening due to the increase in the cost of the product “across the entire spectrum.” Prices will continue to rise, outpacing inflation, she expects. “If tourists buy at this price and demand does not decrease, then the price is adequate,” Lomidze said.

In general, the volume of domestic tourism increased by an average of 15% compared to 2022; the Krasnodar Territory continues to occupy the first place in terms of sales volume, followed by St. Petersburg, Moscow, the cities of the Golden Ring, Dagestan and Karelia.

Earlier Vedomosti with reference to preliminary data from ATOR wrotethat this summer about 4.8 million Russians traveled abroad (+37% compared to the summer season of 2022), while about 14.5 million people vacationed within the country.

According to VTsIOM, this year every third Russian didn’t take it vacation is the maximum since 2018. Another 23% of respondents took vacation, but spent time at home and did not go anywhere. Every fourth respondent (26%) vacationed at their dacha.

The share of those who traveled outside the city within Russia was 13%. Among the most common destinations were St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region (10%), Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan (8%), as well as Moscow and Novosibirsk (7% each). Only 3% of respondents traveled abroad this summer.
