Dorchester Collection, behind the Plaza Athénée and Le Meurice palaces, has decided to increase all rates excluding tax for accommodation and catering by a 5% levy, paid to employees.
To better recruit and retain its employees, Dorchester Collection, which owns the luxury hotels Plaza Athenée and Le Meurice, in Paris, has devised an “unprecedented social agreement”, which puts its wealthy clients to work.
Since May, a new line appears at the bottom of the invoice: the “5% employee contribution”. All rates excluding tax for accommodation and catering are thus increased by a 5% levy, which is paid back to employees (after payment of social charges).

Employees have received an average of 2,100 euros gross per year over the past ten years, but nothing in 2020 and 2021, says Jean-Pierre Kempf, Unsa union representative. This new agreement is a win-win for employees and management.»
