At the Volkov Theater Festival, which opened yesterday in the capital of the Golden Ring, today is the day of remembrance of actor and director Sergei Puskepalis, who died exactly a year ago.
From noon until evening, documentaries about him and full-length films with his participation are shown in the new Actor’s House on Maksimov Street, which now bears the name of Puskepalis.
The commemorative film program opened with a documentary film with the symbolic title “When I’m Gone,” followed by “Sergei Puskepalis. Manifesto about the theater.
Murad Ibragimbekov’s feature film “There Was No Better Brother,” in which the artist played the main role, will also be shown. Well, the Volkovsky Theater Festival itself, to which the ex-artistic director of the First Russian Theater attached great importance, kicked off on Tuesday evening with the play “Enough Simplicity for Every Wise Man,” based on Ostrovsky’s play, performed by artists of the Moscow Provincial Theater.
A year ago, on September 20, Sergei Puskepalis died in a car accident on the road from Yaroslavl to Moscow, where he was driving an armored car to hand it over to volunteers for Donbass.
