Against Russian online cinemas Start (LLC “Start.ru”), Premier (LLC “Premier”), as well as the operator “Megaphone” (co-owner of Start, owner of MegaFon TV) drew up protocols under Part 2 of Art. 6.21.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses on LGBT demonstrations among minors. Case cards appeared in the court filing cabinet.
The maximum penalty under this article is a fine of up to 4 million rubles, or suspension of the activities of a legal entity for up to 90 days. Start reported that a fragment of the film “Perfect Strangers” was the reason for the start of administrative proceedings due to “a possible LGBT demonstration (namely, a demonstration, not propaganda) and an incorrectly specified age limit.”
“In light of legal clarifications available to our editorial staff, this content does not qualify as a demonstration. We will clarify the situation, ”said the representatives of the cinema RBC.
MegaFon told the channel that the regulator’s claims are related solely to the incorrect age marking (“16+” instead of “18+”). “We quickly eliminated this defect, at the moment all age restrictions are indicated correctly,” the company representatives said.
