People’s Artist of the USSR, artistic director of the Maly Theater Yuri Solomin was hospitalized, theater director Tamara Mikhailova told RIA Novosti. She told Interfax that the 88-year-old artist was taken to the hospital after losing consciousness.
“Yes, indeed, Yuri Methodievich was hospitalized. But so far we don’t know what’s wrong with him,” Ms. Mikhailova told RIA Novosti. Earlier, the Mash Telegram channel wrote about the artist’s hospitalization. According to him, Mr. Solomin had a stroke.
Yuri Solomin was born on June 18, 1935 in Chita. He was accepted into the Maly Theater troupe in 1957. Since 1988, Mr. Solomin has been the artistic director of the theater. During his creative career, the artist took part in the creation of almost 60 films and TV series, including “Dersu Uzala”, “Blockade”, “TASS is authorized to declare…”. In 2020, Yuri Solomin was awarded the title of Hero of Labor of Russia. The artist was also awarded the Order of Friendship of Nations, “For Services to the Fatherland”, I, II, III and IV degrees (full holder).
