People’s Artist of the USSR, artistic director of the Maly Theater Yuri Solomin is in the intensive care unit of one of the Moscow hospitals. The condition of the 88-year-old artist is assessed as serious. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source in the medical institution.
“He is in the intensive care unit. The condition is serious, consciousness is clear, breathing is spontaneous,” said the agency’s interlocutor. According to him, the artist is in anesthesiology and intensive care for patients with acute cerebrovascular accident.
Mr. Solomin was hospitalized the day before, November 6th. According to the director of the Maly Theater Tamara Mikhailova, he was taken to the hospital after losing consciousness.
Yuri Solomin was born on June 18, 1935 in Chita. He was accepted into the Maly Theater troupe in 1957. Since 1988 he has been the artistic director of the theater. Mr. Solomin took part in the creation of almost 60 films and TV series, including “Dersu Uzala”, “Blockade”, “TASS is authorized to declare…”. The artist was awarded the title of Hero of Labor of Russia and is a full holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
