The enterprise for the production of special-purpose radio communications equipment NPO Angstrem was transferred under the control of the United Instrument-Making Corporation, which is part of Rostec, reports RBC with reference to sources. This is a temporary measure, there is no talk of seizing assets. The renewal of shareholders’ rights will take place by decision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The transfer of enterprises under external management due to the failure of the state defense order was allowed decree President Vladimir Putin on March 3.
“The main task is to stop any risks of disruption of the state defense order,” explained a RBC source close to one of the relevant departments. As another source emphasized, the external control model will be used for competition, since the current army suppliers “have not coped with the tasks of providing troops with communications systems.”
NPO “Angstrem” produces portable radio stations “Azart”, which are designed to provide jamming and intelligence-protected classified radio communications at the tactical level of command and control. Until the beginning of 2018, Angstrem belonged to the Angstrem group of the ex-Minister of Communications of Russia Leonid Reiman, and then the latter was attached to Alternativa Capital, which belongs to him.
