The Moscow Arbitration Court registered a statement from Alfa Bank, which asks to declare bankrupt the Cypriot company DTSRetail Ltd, the main owner of the cellular retailer Svyaznoy. Earlier, an initial bankruptcy procedure was introduced against Svyaznoy.

The case is posted in card index arbitration cases. Alfa Bank’s application was received by the court on October 3. The application has not yet been scheduled for consideration.

In June, 549 million rubles were recovered from DTSRetail Ltd in favor of Alfa Bank. debt, penalties and interest under the 2018 bank guarantee agreement to secure Svyaznoy’s obligations. Now the court is considering another claim by Alfa Bank against DTSRetail Ltd – in the amount of 7.7 billion rubles.

In July 2022, Alfa Bank already filed a claim against DTSRetail Ltd for 6 billion rubles. A claim for the same amount was filed against Set Svyaznoy LLC. But the parties came to a settlement: in November the bank dropped the claim against the Cypriot company, and in December entered into a settlement agreement with the retailer, under the terms of which Svyaznoy undertook to pay 6.7 billion rubles. with interest until the end of 2025.

In March 2023, Svyaznoy filed a bankruptcy petition in court, the court recognized it as justified in June and introduced a monitoring procedure. The company’s liabilities, as stated in the court ruling, amounted to 53.9 billion rubles.

After the introduction of a surveillance procedure at Svyaznoy, its electronics stores throughout Russia started to close. The last Svyaznoy stores in Moscow, the Moscow region and St. Petersburg closed in early September.
