What other gold mining companies were sanctioned?

In May 2023, the leaders of the Russian gold mining industry – Polyus and Polymetal – were included in the SDN list (black list) of the US Treasury. In November, large Russian gold and copper producers came under British sanctions. In particular, the restrictions affected Nordgold. Marina Mordashova (owns 52% of Nordgold shares) and the company’s general director Georgy Smirnov were also included in the UK sanctions list.
