How reported The Union of Theater Workers (STD) of the Russian Federation, today, September 14, a meeting of the working group was held on issues of reconstruction national theater award and festival “Golden Mask”. The chairman of the STD, Alexander Kalyagin, announced at this meeting that he was “ready to accept” the duties of president of the award. Previously, the presidents of the Golden Mask were Georgy Taratorkin (from 1993 until his death in 2017) and Igor Kostolevsky (from 2017 until the start of the transformation of the Mask this year).
In addition, the working group decided to postpone innovations regarding the list of “Masks” nominations and the structure of expert councils and the jury of the award. Many members of the theater community objected to these proposed changes, including Henrietta Yanovskaya and Kama Ginkas.
The meeting of the working group was attended, in particular, by the general director of the Bolshoi Theater Vladimir Urin, the artistic director of RAMT Alexey Borodin, the director of the Pyotr Fomenko Workshop Andrey Vorobyov and the artistic director of the Alexandrinsky Theater Valery Fokin.
