From January to March, alcoholic enterprises in Russia produced 15.948 million deciliters (dal) of vodka. This is 3.1% more in annual terms, Interfax reports, citing data from Rosalkogoltabakkontrol.

Cognac production increased by 6.5%, to 1.89 million decaliters. In total, 23.547 million decaliters of alcoholic beverages with a strength above 9 degrees were produced, which is 8.5% more than in the same period last year.

Wineries produced 7.125 million dal of grape wines over three months, showing an increase of 25.8% year on year. Sparkling (champagne) wines produced 3.248 million decaliters (+42.7%), liqueur wines – 379.5 thousand decaliters (+36.4%).

Production of low-alcohol drinks increased by 18.5%, to 5.16 million decaliters. In total, the alcohol industry in the first quarter produced 42.707 million dal of alcohol-containing and alcoholic products (except for beer, beer drinks, cider, poire and mead) – 17.3% more than last year.

Shops, cafes and restaurants may introduce a quota for Russian-made wine – the idea of ​​fixing a certain share was proposed by the Association of Winemakers and Winegrowers of Russia. The State Duma is ready to support this initiative, said Sergei Altukhov, deputy chairman of the economic policy committee. It is expected that starting in the fall, alcohol sellers should form 20% of their assortment from domestic drinks.
