Moldovan airline Air Moldova reportedthat the suspension of flights is extended until 31 July.
“Flights have been suspended until July 31, 2023 inclusive. Passengers will be notified via email of ticket refund and booking options.
The air carrier explained that passengers who bought a ticket on the Air Moldova website will receive a refund upon request to the card. Those who bought tickets through agencies will be able to receive a refund only after the resumption of commercial and operational activities of Air Moldova.
Last fall, the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova reported “financial shortcomings” identified during an audit by Air Moldova, which could prevent the airline from fulfilling obligations on tickets sold. It was clarified that the check was initiated after the company canceled flights more than once due to technical malfunctions of the aircraft.
On March 2, Air Moldova announced the cancellation of a number of scheduled flights. Flights were then canceled at the end of April until mid-May, and the company announced a restructuring to avoid bankruptcy. Then the suspension was extended until June 16, and later until June 30. At the beginning of June the company informed about the continuation of the restructuring process, promising to give details soon.
