Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev said that meat prices in the Russian Federation will most likely begin to decline in late August or early September. The minister noted that the current price increase is seasonal and occurs every year.

“Given the increase in production, I think that in the near future we will see a decrease in prices. I think that this will happen at the end of August-beginning of September. And prices will stabilize. Therefore, we do not see any critical situation here, an absolutely seasonal increase (prices.— “b”), this happens year after year. In no case is there a shortage, we have, in principle, complete self-sufficiency in this type of product,” Mr. Patrushev told reporters in the Krasnoyarsk Territory (quoted from “Interfax”).

The minister stressed that Russia covers its needs for meat by 100%. He said that the production of animal meat, excluding poultry meat, this year amounted to 1.8 million tons, which is almost 9% more than in the same period last year.

According to Rosstat, in the week ended July 23, the average prices for chicken reached record value – 196.93 rubles. for 1 kg. The previous record was set in April 2022 – 190.85 rubles per 1 kg. In retail chains, a chicken carcass in June cost an average of 270 rubles. per 1 kg, according to the analytical company Emeat.

Cherkizovo, a large meat producer, plans to increase prices for turkey products under its own brands and private label chains by an average of 6.5% from September 4. This is facilitated by rising costs for equipment, logistics, packaging and high competition for workers.
