AFK Sistema created a company to import Apple and Dyson products to Russia

AFK Sistema (owns MTS and Ozon) created the Guru Electronics company, which will distribute electronics and small household appliances. The company has already filed a declaration on the import of Apple products into the EAEU, Samsung and Dyson drew attention of Kommersant to the data in the register of declarations of conformity of the EAEU.
The AFC confirmed that they had created Guru Electronics for wholesale purchases of electronics and small household appliances for sale to retail chains and shops. According to the newspaper, the company was registered on December 22, 2022, its authorized capital is 2 million rubles. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the CEO of Guru Electronics is the former commercial director of MTS retail Dmitry Magyanov.
As follows from the discovered declarations of the company dated January 27, Guru Electronics intends to supply eight batches of devices to the Russian market: iPhone, iPad and AirPods with cables and power supplies, Apple and Samsung smart watches, Dyson hair dryers and stylers – 1.55 million each. units of goods in each.
A source close to AFK claims that the new company was created so that competitors of Sistema’s profile structures (for example, MTS) could “cooperate freely with it.” However, another source in a large distributor said that Guru Electronics is needed to strengthen the direction of parallel imports for domestic needs. He doubted that the volumes of goods indicated in the declarations would be put on the market.
Alexey Pogudalov, commercial director of Holodilnik.ru, believes that with the advent of a new large distributor, competition in the market will be higher, which means that “this will have a positive effect on the price.”
After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the largest equipment manufacturers suspended their activities in Russia and limited supplies. In particular, this decision was made by Apple, HP, Acer, Asus, LG, Samsung, etc.
In this regard, parallel imports were allowed in Russia, the corresponding decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in June 2022. The Ministry of Industry and Trade approved a list of goods for parallel imports that can be imported into the Russian Federation without the consent of the manufacturer or copyright holder. It also includes products from electronics manufacturers: Apple, Samsung, Asus, Intel, Sony, etc.
