Aerosmith lead singer accused of sexually abusing a minor in the 1970s

A lawsuit has been filed in a Los Angeles court accusing Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler of sexually assaulting a minor over 40 years ago. The plaintiff Julia Holcombe claims that at a young age she fell under the spell of Tyler, “could not resist his influence, fame and impressive financial fortune,” and Tyler took advantage of this and dragged her into an illegal relationship. According to the plaintiff, she met Tyler at an Aerosmith concert in Portland, Oregon in 1973, when she was just 16 years old and he was 25. On the very first evening, he allegedly took her to his hotel room, and after “talking about her age” and “possible problems at home because of it”, he committed “criminal sexual acts” against her. Their relationship, according to the plaintiff, lasted three years.

Moreover, Tyler allegedly managed to charm the girl’s mother, and she gave him custody of her daughter so that she could freely accompany the lead singer of Aerosmith on tour. The plaintiff also claims that as a result of this illegal relationship, she became pregnant in 1975, but had an abortion at the request of Tyler, who otherwise promised to withdraw her financial support. After this incident, the girl broke up with him. Holcombe accuses Tyler of sexual assault, intentional infliction of emotional trauma (he published a memoir in which she is mentioned), providing her with alcohol and drugs.

The lawsuit was filed after so many years under the California Child Victims of Abuse Act. This law, passed in 2019, removed the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse cases. The deadline for filing claims under this law is December 31, 2022. Steven Tyler himself has not yet responded to the lawsuit filed against him.
