“In accordance with tradition, we have already chosen a name for them – we will name one of the aircraft after Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky, the second after (Gavriil Romanovich) Derzhavin, a famous poet and the first Minister of Justice in Russia,” Aleksandrovsky told reporters on SPIEF.
Two Boeing-737s belonged to one of the foreign subsidiaries of the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC), before the start of the special operation in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions, they were operated by the Indonesian airline Lion Air. After the introduction of sanctions against STLC, the carrier stopped their operation. At the beginning of the year, the lessor moved the ships to Russia, against the backdrop of an expected shortage of boards due to sanctions, several Russian airlines claimed them. As a result of competitive procedures, they received Aeroflot. In July, Rossiya Airlines, a subsidiary of Aeroflot, will start operating them.
