The Federal Air Transport Agency has granted Aeroflot permission for regular flights to the Tanzanian Zanzibar archipelago and to the city of Sanya, located on the southern tip of the Chinese island of Hainan. The corresponding document is published on the website of the Ministry (.pdf).
According to the order of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Aeroflot will be able to operate flights between Moscow and Zanzibar with a frequency of seven times a week. Permits have also been issued for flights to the Chinese resort of Sanya from Moscow, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk. The frequency of flights on all routes is seven times a week.
The charter company Azur Air has also received permission to fly to Tanzania. The carrier will be able to fly twice a week to Zanzibar from Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Perm, as well as Ufa and Chelyabinsk.
Earlier, the media, citing a letter from the Federal Air Transport Agency, wrote that the aviation authorities asked domestic carriers to think about launching year-round flights from Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Malaysia. It was about direct non-scheduled flights at least once a week to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Murmansk. The growing interest in tours to Russia from travelers from these countries of Southeast Asia was indicated as the reason for the need to launch new routes.
