Aeroflot passenger traffic up in 2022

In 2022, Aeroflot airline increased passenger transportation on domestic routes by 7.6%, to 16.7 million people. Passenger traffic within the country increased by 30.3% at the end of the year and amounted to 41.8 billion passenger-kilometers. Passenger seat occupancy rose by 4.7% to 83.7%.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the airline carried 3.5 million people on domestic routes. These figures are comparable to those of 2021, Aeroflot noted. Passenger turnover in the fourth quarter increased by 17.4% to 8.5 billion passenger-kilometers. Passenger seat occupancy rose to 84.4%.

In total, according to the results of 2022, Aeroflot transported 20.5 million people. The total passenger turnover amounted to 56.5 billion passenger-kilometers, seat occupancy – 81%.

The traffic volume of Aeroflot Group (Aeroflot, Pobeda and Rossiya airlines) totaled 40.7 million people. In 2021, it was 21.4 million people, in 2019 – 37.2 million people. Passenger turnover of Aeroflot Group — 98.4 passenger-kilometers, seat occupancy — 83.6%

Aeroflot emphasized that against the backdrop of restrictions imposed by the West, the company in 2022 focused on normalizing operations, restoring passenger traffic on domestic and accessible international routes. After the start of the special operation, some countries, including members of the European Union and the United States, closed the sky for flights by Russian airlines. Russia responded similarly.
