Aeroflot Airlines (MOEX: AFLT) and Rossiya continue to operate flights to Egypt on aircraft that were not listed in the recommendations for stopping flights, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported. The agency’s recommendation issued last week affected 27 aircraft.

“Aeroflot and Rossiya continue to operate flights to Egypt on their other aircraft. Carriers have enough aircraft to carry out flight programs in full. The frequency of flights has not changed,” said the Federal Air Transport Agency (quote from TASS). The department noted that the telegram with recommendations sent to Aeroflot and Rossiya was “just one example of the multifactorial work carried out by the department to mitigate risks for passengers.”

In total, according to the Federal Air Transport Agency, five Russian airlines fly to Egypt. Over the 11 months of 2023, passenger traffic on this route increased to 1.79 million people, or by 28.8% compared to the same period in 2022.

Last week, the Federal Air Transport Agency recommended that Aeroflot stop flying ten Airbus A320, nine Boeing 777-300ER and four Airbus A321 and Airbus A350 from January 12 to Egypt. Rossiya was recommended to suspend flights on three Boeing 737-800. By information source of Izvestia, the telegrams were sent immediately after receiving information about the possible arrest of these Russian ships at Egyptian airports.
