Actor Alexander Filippenko left Russia

Theater and film actor, People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Filippenko left the country for Lithuania. This was told by his daughter Alexandra on the air of the Dozhd TV channel (recognized as a foreign agent). According to her, the departure is connected with the position of the actor on a special military operation in Ukraine.

When Alexander Filippenko left Russia, Alexandra did not specify. However, she noted that she herself suggested that her father move to Lithuania. According to Alexandra, “it all started” in May 2022. On May 19, Oleksandr Filippenko posted on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in Russia) a photo wearing a vyshyvanka, a traditional Ukrainian national dress with embroidery. In his post, he expressed support for the Ukrainians. “He decided to remember some wonderful days in Kyiv. And he wrote words of love directed, first of all, to friends who are there, ”explained his daughter.

In November, said Alexandra, the theater. The Moscow City Council, where the actor has played since 2006, did not renew the contract with Mr. Filippenko. However, she stressed that the decision was made “by mutual agreement.” At the same time, the actor is still listed in poster four performances of the theater – “Shakespearehamlet”, “The Taming of the Shrew”, “Three Sisters”, “Uncle Vanya”. The Dozhd correspondent was told at the theater that Alexander Filippenko would not participate in the next performance of Shakespearehamlet on February 11.

Subsequently, Alexander Filippenko was denied several city venues in holding concerts, Alexandra said. Against this background, he left Russia. “Of course, this is due to his position. At the same time, I must say, he believes that everything is in order and you should not pay attention to it. So no one said anything about it,” she said.

78-year-old Alexander Filippenko is known for his roles in the films World Champion, Alice, Peter the Great. Testament”, “Happy ending”. In addition to the theater Moscow City Council, the actor played in the Gogol Center. He is a laureate of the State Prize of Russia.
