Access to the Sberbank website restored after failure

[ad_1]

Sberbank users, today, September 27, reported failures in the organization’s website. The site did not open from Chrome, Safari and Firefox browsers, it worked normally only in Yandex.Browser. Reports of failures appeared after the bank switched to Russian digital certificates. Now access to the site has been restored, Kommersant was convinced.

Yesterday, September 26, the Belgian GlobalSign certificate expired on the Sberbank website. TLS certificates encrypt the connection between the site and the user, ensuring the security of transmitted data. As Kommersant previously reported, since the spring of 2022, foreign companies have been gradually refusing to Russian organizations to issue new or renew old certification center certificates.

In March, the Ministry of Digital Development launched the issuance of its own root certificates. Sber switched to one of them. In this regard, there may be interruptions in the operation of the site from foreign browsers. Also, plans to switch to Russian certificates were reported by Yandex and VK.
