The Ministry of Energy and the Environment of Poland announced its readiness to transfer excess oil to Germany, reports TASS with reference to the department’s announcement. The surplus of oil is formed due to the difference between the demand from Polish refineries (refineries) and the technical capabilities of the national oil transfer system. Previously, Poland refused to help Germany because of the connection of German refineries with Russia.

The ministry noted that Poland is negotiating with Germany on cooperation in the field of oil supplies to Germany. This includes the RSK Raffinerie GmbH refinery in the German city of Schwedt. The plant depends on Russian supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.

August 24 Financial Times informedthat RSK Raffinerie GmbH is threatened with closure in the event of a cessation of Russian oil supplies. The publication noted that the refinery planned to replace supplies with Polish oil, but Warsaw refused, since the plant is owned by the Russian company Rosneft.

September 16 the German government handed over “daughters” of “Rosneft” – Rosneft Deutschland and RN Refining & Marketing GmbH – in the management of the Federal Network Agency for six months, until February 2023. Germany explained the decision by the need to ensure the operation of refineries in Schwedt, Karlsruhe and Voburg an der Donau. The government reported that suppliers refused to work with the Russian company and its subsidiaries in Germany. Rosneft named the measure taken by violating the principles of a market economy. The company announced its intention to go to court to protect its interests.
