About 406 thousand Russians took part in 1.5 thousand events dedicated to National Unity Day

In 1.1 thousand settlements, about 1.5 thousand events were held for National Unity Day, said official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk. 405.6 thousand people took part in them.
Public order at concerts, events and festivals was ensured by more than 12.7 thousand employees of internal affairs bodies. Employees of the National Guard, private security organizations and public law enforcement organizations were involved. “The measures taken did not allow any violations of public order,”— said Mrs. Wolf.
On November 4, Russia celebrates National Unity Day. It was established in 2004 and was first celebrated in 2005. From that moment on, the day is a day off. The holiday was established in memory of the events of 1612, when the people’s militia under the leadership of the zemstvo elder Kuzma Minin and Prince Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from Polish invaders.
