As of 10:00 Moscow time, about 1.9 million residents of Russian regions were left without power supply due to unfavorable weather conditions, reported Ministry of Energy. Among the affected regions are Crimea, Dagestan, Krasnodar Territory, Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Rostov, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
“Energy workers are working in enhanced mode. In total, 680 teams (more than 2.1 thousand people, 783 units of special equipment) were involved in emergency restoration work,” the Ministry of Energy reported. The department clarified that work to restore power supply was hampered by the consequences of bad weather.
On the night of November 27, the weather deteriorated sharply in a number of Russian regions. Strong wind gusts of up to 30 m/s knocked down trees and damaged the roofs of buildings. A state of emergency has been declared in Crimea. There is a threat of flooding in the Krasnodar Territory. It was reported about at least two deaths and dozens of injuries due to the storm. In the Sevastopol aquarium died 800 animals.
