Abkhazia will appeal to the State Duma to solve the problem with gasoline supplies

Deputies of the Parliament of Abkhazia intend to appeal to their Russian colleagues in the State Duma in order to solve the problem with the export of Russian gasoline from Russia to the republic. Due to the exclusive right to supply gasoline to Rosneft (MOEX:ROSN), trains with Russian fuel from other companies have been at the border since December 2023. The Russian government granted the company this right on December 16.

“We suggested that representatives of the government of the republic, through their channels, once again contact the Russian side on this issue. Probably, the parliament will also decide to appeal to the State Duma. On Monday we will discuss this issue again and turn to our Russian colleagues to resolve it,” said member of the People’s Assembly of Abkhazia Badra Pilia (quoted by “Interfax”).

According to him, the issue with the supply of Russian fuel to the republic must be resolved in such a way that it does not lead to a monopoly on the market and “Abkhaz suppliers can purchase fuel in Russia not only from Rosneft.” Currently, only gas stations that purchase fuel from Rosneft operate in Abkhazia.
