ABBA participants awarded orders of knighthood in Sweden – Kommersant

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden approved the awarding of the Order of Vasa to the members of the Swedish group ABBA. It will be awarded to Benny Andersson, Anni-Frid Reus (Lingstad), Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog.
The Order of Vasa is one of four orders of chivalry in Sweden, which are awarded for outstanding deeds, exploits, qualities or contributions of great importance to the country.
The list of honorees, including members of ABBA, is published on website government. The proposal was prepared by the Order Council at the King’s Office of the Order. The Swedish government supported the decision.
Royal Orders of Knighthood are being awarded to Swedes for the first time in almost 50 years. ABBA members received them for “outstanding services to Swedish and international musical life.”
ABBA was founded in 1972. In 2021 group released his ninth album (Voyage) after a 40-year hiatus.
