The King of Sweden awarded the ABBA musicians with knightly orders

The Swedish Government Office reported that the King of Sweden, XVI Gustav, decided to award the ABBA musicians with the Order of Vasa.

It is reported that the proposal to reward Anni-Frieda Reus (Lyngstad), Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog was prepared by the Order Council at the Royal Chancellery of the Order and was later supported by the cabinet.

The Order of Vasa, named after the king who ruled Sweden from 1523 to 1560, is one of four orders of chivalry in the monarchy, the others being the Order of the Sword, the Order of the North Star and the Order of the Seraphim. The government office noted that Swedes are receiving orders of knighthood for the first time in half a century. ABBA received a high award for their outstanding contribution to national and world musical culture.
