Playwright Dmitry Danilov: “My “Man from Podolsk” successfully reached Athens”
In Europe, despite all the political “storms”, they again showed a play based on the work of the author from Russia. “The Man from Podolsk” was staged in Greece,” Dmitry Danilov, a well-known prose writer and playwright, winner of the Golden Mask award, wrote on his pages on social networks.
In an interview with an MK correspondent, Danilov clarified that last year the Greek director Georgos Kutlis approached him with a request to stage the play:
– He speaks Russian, graduated from GITIS, the course of Evgeny Kamenkovich and Dmitry Krymov. I, of course, agreed. The director himself translated the play. On October 14, the premiere took place at the National Theater of Greece. I have not been to the performance, I can only judge it by the photographs (I really like them) and by several good reviews of Greek critics that I found on the Internet. For some reason, I am sure that the performance turned out to be successful.
The writer emphasizes that this event is very valuable for him, because Greece is the ancient birthplace of the European theater and all European culture.
