A memorial plaque was placed on the building of the Russian State University for the Humanities, where he worked for over 60 years.
On September 11, at the address: Nikolskaya Street, Building 15, Building 1, a solemn opening of a memorial plaque to the outstanding historian, local historian, teacher, Professor Sigurd Ottovich Schmidt took place. It was installed on the building of the university where he worked from 1949 to 2013.
The memorial plaque was made of bronze by sculptor Andrey Stanislavovich Zabaluyev and architect Iordanka Atanasova Damyanova-Voskresenskaya.
In the center of the memorial plaque is a bas-relief made in the form of a medallion with a portrait of Sigurd Schmidt. The architectural and artistic plasticity of the board contains symbolic images of significant Moscow buildings associated with the history of Moscow and the Russian state.
The installation of the memorial plaque was initiated by the association “Russian Historical Society” and the “History of the Fatherland” Foundation.
The opening ceremony of the memorial plaque was attended by representatives of the capital and federal authorities, research and public organizations, the media, students and colleagues of Sigurd Ottovich Schmidt, Muscovites and guests of the capital.
