Serbia and Kosovo failed to reach an agreement on de-escalation during the talks in Brussels. This was announced by the representative of the press service of the European Commission Peter Stano.

“It was about the responsibility of both leaders for urgent de-escalation. Unfortunately, today they did not agree on a decision, ”said Stano (quote according to RIA Novosti).

He noted that the meeting between Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti was organized by EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

Previously, Vučić also declaredthat negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina did not produce results. The Serbian President pointed to “reasons he did not understand.” According to him, the Serbian side acted constructively, but Pristina wanted to add “something that is impossible” to the texts of the agreement.

On November 1, the Kosovo authorities introduced a requirement that only local RKS numbers, and not Serbian ones, can be driven in Kosovo. Since November 21, people have been fined for breaking the rules. As noted by TASS, the amount of the fine is 150 euros. The transitional period will last until April 21, 2023, after which the Kosovo police will begin to confiscate vehicles with Serbian numbers.

In connection with the decision taken by the Kosovo authorities on November 5, the leader of the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, the head of the Serbian List party, Goran Rakic, said that the Serbs had withdrawn from all institutions of power in Kosovo.

So, Rakic resigned from the post of government minister. After his statement, Serbian deputies also announced their resignation from parliament, then judges and members of municipalities announced their resignations. In addition, Serbian police leaders took off their uniforms and epaulettes of the unrecognized Kosovo right during the meeting.

Formerly Borrell declaredthat November 29 is the deadline by which Belgrade and Pristina need to reach an agreement in order to avoid a serious crisis.
