The Turkish state-owned Ziraat Bank has left the Russian payment system Mir and no longer services its cards. It is reported by Reuters with reference to the CEO of the bank Alpaslan Chakar. Earlier, the information that the state-owned banks of Turkey, following the private ones, abandoned Mir, appeared in the media, but there was no official confirmation.

The termination of operations with Russian cards in Ziraat Bank was confirmed by RIA Novosti. Answering the question about conducting transactions with Mir, the representative of the bank said: “No, they are not carried out.”

On September 19, large Turkish banks Is Bankasi and DenizBank stopped maintenance of Russian Mir cards, after the US promised to impose sanctions for helping Russia bypass restrictions. On September 28, the media reported that operations with Mir cards were stopped by Ziraat Bank, Vakifbank and Halkbank. Turkey intends create an alternative to the Russian payment system.
