Decisions on the departure of ex-officials from the country will be made by the State Secrets Commission

Putin approved the right of the State Secrets Commission to restrict the departure of ex-officials from Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a number of decrees that regulate the activities of the interdepartmental commission for the protection of state secrets. One of the documents, the text of which was published on the official Internet portal legal information indicates that the commission will be responsible for issuing permits to leave the country for officials who had access to classified information.

It is noted that among the positions that will have to obtain permission from the commission in order to travel abroad are the prime minister of the country, the prosecutor general, the head of the presidential administration, the secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, deputy prime ministers, federal ministers, chairmen of the Central Election Commission (CEC) , the Investigative Committee (ICR) and the Bank of Russia (CBR), heads of regions, the president of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN), the chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, his deputy and others.

Another decree signed by the head of state approves the provision for the state secrets commission to make a decision on restricting the exit from Russia of citizens who have left the civil service. In accordance with this decree, it is established that the commission, within three days from the date of termination of powers, must receive a conclusion on the degree of awareness of ex-civil servants about information that constitutes a state secret. Within twenty days from the date of receipt of the conclusion, the commission will have to hold a meeting, during which a decision will be made to limit the right of ex-officials to travel abroad.

Another document signed by President Putin indicates that the commission will also decide on access to state secrets for high-ranking officials.
