Putin announced the same benefits for all large families in Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a Decree that defines benefits for large families and secures their status. Social support measures will be available to families raising three or more children until the eldest child reaches the age of 18 or 23 years, provided that he is a full-time student at a university or college. All those falling into this category will be issued a uniform certificate approved by the government of the Russian Federation.
The decree guarantees the payment of benefits in connection with the birth and upbringing of children, support for employment, early retirement for women and other types of assistance. The heads of regions were instructed to provide large families with a reduction in the cost of housing and utilities by at least 30%, to admit children to preparatory classes as a matter of priority, to provide schoolchildren with free travel to and from their place of study, school and sports uniforms, and meals. Governors are recommended to allocate land plots and help families improve their living conditions.
This Decree will help build a unified model of a large family at the federal level, which will eliminate discrepancies at the level of regional laws, says Gulnara Ruchkina, dean of the Faculty of Law of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. She notes that the document is especially relevant in the Year of the Family, which began in Russia in 2024.
