More than half of Germans fear they won’t be able to pay their gas and electricity bills this winter. The Bild am Sonntag newspaper writes about this, citing a study by the INSA Institute.

Thus, according to the study, such concerns were expressed by 59% of respondents.

It is noted that if people really cannot pay bills, there will be many difficulties, including in the work of utilities, public transport and institutions that depend on city budgets.

The Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Stefan Weil, noted that public utilities were in a difficult situation.

“On the one hand, they themselves have to pay more and more for energy, and on the other hand, they must be afraid that they will not receive payments,” he said.

Weil called for extending the support measures prepared by the state for business to urban utilities.
