A member of the German parliament from the opposition Christian Democratic Party (CDU) and a member of the International Affairs Committee, Roderich Kiesewetter, said in an interview with Welt that up to 10 divisions could be formed from Ukrainian citizens who evaded military service and living in Germany. According to him, there are about 600 thousand Ukrainian men fit for military service in the European Union, including 220 thousand in Germany.
The deputy expressed the opinion that EU countries should approach Ukrainians on their territory with a request to join the Ukrainian army. In addition, he noted that these citizens could take part in supporting the Red Cross and also help in various civil services such as disaster relief, fire fighting and others.
According to Kiesewetter, in addition to rotation in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, these people would have the opportunity to contribute to various humanitarian efforts.
